I joined b.ignited as a junior test automation engineer last year. I was excited to start my career in a company that is passionate about test automation and has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solutions to its clients.

Before even stepping foot onto the client's site, my journey with b.ignited had already begun. A week prior to my first work experience at the client, I underwent a thorough orientation. Led by Koen, it provided me with a comprehensive overview of my responsibilities and the established framework I had to take over. This proactive preparation proved invaluable, enabling me to hit the ground running and immediately contribute to the project effectively.

The Initial Challenge: Participating in PI Planning Session

My first experience with the client was a PI planning session. This was an intense but insightful session where I learned a lot about the client's business and their test automation goals. I also got to meet my team members and learn more about their roles and responsibilities.

After the PI planning session, I began working on my first tasks for the client. I was initially overwhelmed by the amount of information I had to learn and the number of tasks I had to complete. However, I quickly realized that the b.ignited team was there to support me every step of the way.

Learning and Growing: Support from Colleagues and Clients

My colleagues were always willing to answer my questions and help me learn new things. They also provided me with regular feedback, which helped me to improve my skills and knowledge.

Next to all that, I also appreciated the support I received from the client. They were always willing to answer my questions and provide me with the resources I needed to succeed.

Starting the project at the client site has been a very welcoming experience, thanks to the trust and flexibility I’ve been granted. This has been crucial for achieving a good work-life balance.

On a technical level, I've developed skills in using key industry tools such as Jira, Jenkins, Confluence, and Bitbucket, among others. Additionally, working in an agile team has been a new and rewarding experience for me. The structured sprint goals have been particularly beneficial, helping me achieve realistic milestones.

I'm genuinely grateful for all I've learned and excited about what lies ahead, thanks to the opportunities provided by the client and b.ignited.

Unexpected discoveries: collaborative spirit and professional growth

What struck me most in the beginning of my working days, was the spirit of collaboration. Despite being a newcomer to the industry, I was heartened by the collective commitment to elevate product quality and share expertise. This collaborative spirit wasn't just about improving things internally; it was all about making sure our client received qualified applications. Through this experience, I came to see how crucial teamwork, communication, and striving for excellence truly are in the field.

Reflections and Gratitude: A Positive Start at b.ignited

So, to conclude, my first experience at the client was a positive one. . I learned a lot, not just about test automation but also about teamwork, communication, and dedication to excellence. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with b.ignited and the support I received from both my colleagues and the client. As I continue my journey in this industry, I carry with me the lessons learned and the relationships built during this enriching experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with b.ignited, and I am excited to continue my career with this company.
